PB Planet Spotlight: Sergio Saves The Game!

(This WOULD be the photo I took of Sergio Saves the Game! author Edel Rodriguez at his Princeton Barnes & Noble Book Signing on July 17—IF I hadn’t made a mistake and showed up on July 18! BUMMER!)

Big PB Planet applause for Sergio Saves the Game by Edel Rodriguez (Little, Brown Books for Young Readers, Hachette Book Group, 2009). When a little penguin’s real-life abilities don’t match is big-dream aspirations on the soccer field, he enthusiastically takes to heart the advice of his teammates and coach: keep your eyes on the ball, your wings up, and practice, practice, practice! But will the tiny go-getter-goalie be ready for the championship match against the big, tough, Seagulls team? Rodriguez’ eye-catching woodblock/digital media art will draw in young readers, and the storyline brings home the “You can do it!” message with humor and fun. Zoom on over to your local bookstore and bring it back to your home planet today.

Hi, Corey! Yeah, he sounds really cool! Unless I can get my time machine to work, I'll just have to catch him on his next book tour! (And if I do get my time machine to work, I've got a 4th-grade score to settle with Rebecca MacDonald. That's right, missy! I know you're the one who stole my special hopscotch rock! You're about to get a little visit from the Ghost of Playground Past!) Er, sorry. Got sidetracked.
