PB Planet Spotlight: Maggie's Monkeys

Big PB Planet applause for Maggie’s Monkeys by Linda Sanders-Wells, illustrated by Abby Carter (Candlewick Press, 2009). Little sister Maggie says a group of pink monkeys has moved into their refrigerator. The rest of the family seems to think she’s right—all except Maggie’s big brother, who tries to convince everyone that Maggie’s monkeys aren’t real. But when his teasing friends come over, will he see something that he didn’t see before? The resolution, along with Carter’s spunky, zanily-colored illustrations—especially those little monkeys!—will steal your heart. Zoom on over to your local bookstore and bring it back to your home planet today.

Ame, thanks for the nice review! This is my first children's book and I am so excited that it's finally in kids' hands. I am grateful for people like you who help get the word out about books they like. (Good luck with your own writing, too. I know how hard it is. This one took 9 years and 18 rejections to see print!)

Oh, sounds really cute. And it's funny because I just started a manuscript about a monster in the freezer!

Hi, Linda! (Look, everybody, it's Maggie's Monkey's author, Linda Sanders-Wells!) Thanks so much for commenting, the well-wishes, and for sharing your "power of persistence" inspirational publication story. See, PBnauts, when that rejection letter comes in, never give up! (Have a good big cry and eat ice cream for dinner, but never give up!) Linda, we look forward to seeing your next one! Please keep us posted.

(laughing) Corey, love your monster in the freezer idea! Now I don't feel so bad about not defrosting mine...

Ame, I can't figure out where to go with it. Want to try a collaboration?
